RECRUITMENT
Why PSE?
Differentiating itself from numerous other business fraternities and marketing organizations on campus, Pi Sigma Epsilon focuses specifically on marketing, management, and sales. Our brothers come from many different majors but all share one commonality: a passion for marketing, sales, or retail, and motivation to succeed. As a PSE brother you will have access to training, resources, networking, recruitment and internship opportunities with some of the largest companies in these industries.

What makes PSE different from other organizations?
PSE differentiates itself from other organizations both in its specialization and its learning philosophy. PSE provides networking opportunities with professionals and alumni, and experiential learning of the hard and soft skills needed for a career in our industries. But PSE provides far more than just professional development - as a fraternity, PSE also provides an intimate, close-knit environment where brothers can build strong personal relationships and lasting friendships.
Why do you not use terms such as "rush" and "pledging"?
PSE is a professional fraternity, thus we choose to use terminology that reflects our professional attitude, character, and purposes. Terms such as "recruitment", "prospective member", "prospective member training", and "PM trainer" will be used in lieu of terms: rushee, rush, bids, pledge, pledge pin, pledge book, pledge class, or pledgemaster in any verbal or written communication involving participation or membership in Pi Sigma Epsilon.
What is recruitment?
Recruitment is a one week-long process where you will get to learn more about the Zeta Chi Chapter, its brothers, and what sets us apart from other organizations. The week is comprised of two events, one professional and one informal, followed by an individual interview. After decisions have been made, the selected prospective members will be invited to a welcome dinner followed by an orientation and retreat which will mark the beginning of their training process.
What do you look for in recruits?
There is no one "type" of person that will ensure advantage over other recruits; we believe that a diversity of major, background, strengths, and interests is what makes Zeta Chi strong. Like many other organizations, however, we do look for commitment and motivation in our prospective members, but most importantly, we look for a good culture fit and sense of humor.
Is attendance mandatory for all recruiting events?
Attendance of as many events as possible is highly recommended in order to get a good idea of PSE, its members, and whether it is a good fit for you. However, at a minimum, we require attendance of at least one recruitment event in order to be eligible to apply as a prospective member.
Are there any eligibility requirements?
You must be a currently registered student at the University of California, Berkeley and must have a minimum of three semesters of coursework left. Unlike other organizations, we consider Fall Program for Freshmen and first-semester freshmen as eligible to apply as prospective members.
